I’ve been to Rocky Point (Puerto Peñasco) a few times for the beach and seafood, but this time I discovered something completely unexpected—vineyards, just 20 minutes inland near a town called Caborca. I honestly had no idea Sonora had a wine-growing region, much less one this charming.

The experience was amazing. We visited a small, family-owned vineyard where we got to walk among the vines, taste different varietals grown in the desert climate, and even enjoy a cheese and wine pairing under a shaded pergola. The owners were incredibly welcoming and passionate about their craft, and they shared how the region's unique climate and soil are ideal for producing bold, flavorful wines.

What surprised me most was the landscape—lush green vines stretching across reddish desert soil, with mountains in the distance. It felt like a hidden gem tucked between the sea and the sand.

If you're planning a trip to Rocky Point and want something totally different for a day trip, I 100% recommend visiting the vineyards near Caborca. It’s a peaceful, authentic experience that adds a new flavor to the Sonoran coast—literally.
